Role Overview

Adalat AI is seeking a Finance Lead to oversee budgeting, financial planning, compliance, and grant reporting for its expanding justice-tech initiatives. This role is crucial in ensuring financial sustainability, managing grants, and maintaining compliance with donor and regulatory requirements. The Finance Lead will play a key role in managing financial strategies, optimizing cash flows, and supporting fundraising efforts to scale Adalat AI’s impact across the legal system.

This position is ideal for someone with experience in financial management for nonprofits, impact-driven organizations, or technology startups, who is eager to create financial structures that enable large-scale transformation in the justice sector.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Planning & Budgeting

    • Develop and oversee annual/multi-year budgets aligned with Adalat AI’s strategic goals.

    • Work with leadership to ensure cost-effective financial planning for scaling operations.

    • Implement financial models to trackand optimize spending, and forecast funding needs.

    • Ensure fund allocation efficiency for multiple projects and grants.


  2. Grant & Donor Financial Reporting

    • Prepare financial reports for donors, government grants, and institutional funders.

    • Maintain accurate grant utilization tracking and compliance with donor requirements.

    • Work with the fundraising team to support grant applications with financial projections.


  3. Financial Operations & Compliance

    • Oversee payroll, vendor payments, reimbursements, and financial reconciliation.

    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and donor policies.

    • Work with external auditors to complete annual audits, tax filings, and statutory reports.

    • Develop internal financial control policies to minimize risk and improve transparency.


  4. Cash Flow & Expense Management

    • Optimize cash flow management to ensure liquidity for operations and expansion.

    • Implement cost-saving measures to increase financial efficiency

    • Work with operations teams to ensure effective financial planning for court deployment sand partnerships


  5. Supporting Fundraising & Growth Strategy

    • Support the CEO and fundraising team in financial projections for new funding proposals.

    • Develop financial models to assess the feasibility of new projects and initiatives.

    • Build relationships with financial partners, donors, and funding agencies.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience in finance, grants management, or nonprofit financial planning.

  • Strong background in budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.

  • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards, grant reporting, and regulations in India.

  • Experience in managing multi-source funding (grants, donors, govt. funding, etc.).

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

  • Ability to work in a remote, high-growth environment with dynamic operational needs
