QA Automation Engineer
Remote
Adalat AI is building an end-to-end justice tech stack that automates manual and clerical pain points in courtrooms, giving judges back time to focus on what matters most: decision-making and delivering justice. Our solutions - from AI-powered transcription in Indian languages to case-flow management and document navigation - are now deployed across 9 states, covering nearly 20% of India’s judiciary. Backed by leading technology companies and funders, and incubated at MIT and Oxford, Adalat AI is working to eliminate judicial delays and expand access to timely justice. Founded by a team with backgrounds in law, technology, and economics from Harvard, Oxford, MIT, and IIIT Hyderabad, we are scaling rapidly across India and the Global South.
Role Overview
We're hiring a QA Automation Engineer to own test quality across our courtroom technology platform. You'll be embedded in a fast-moving engineering team, building and maintaining automated test suites that cover everything from real-time audio flows and document pipelines to case management workflows. This is a hands-on role — you'll shape our testing culture, define standards, and roll up your sleeves to fix things that are broken, not just report them.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain end-to-end test suites using Playwright, covering web UIs, API contracts, and critical user journeys.
Own the CI/CD test pipeline — ensure tests run reliably, fail fast, and give engineers signal they can trust.
Identify gaps in coverage and proactively drive them to zero across frontend, backend, and integration layers.
Work closely with engineers to review features before they ship and catch regressions early.
Contribute to and refine testing standards, conventions, and tooling across the engineering org.
Jump in wherever needed — triage bugs, unblock teammates, or pair with a developer on a tricky edge case.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in software quality engineering, with a strong automation focus.
Hands-on proficiency with Playwright for end-to-end browser testing.
Experience integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, or similar).
Strong debugging instincts — you can trace a flaky test to its root cause without hand-holding.
A startup mindset: you're adaptable, move fast, and don't wait for a perfect spec to get started.
Bonus: Familiarity with Go and Kubernetes.
What You Will Achieve in a Year
Built a robust, trustworthy automation suite that the team ships with confidence against.
Established testing patterns and documentation that raise the quality bar across the engineering org.
Contributed meaningfully to delivering reliable, accessible justice technology to courts across India.
