About the Company

Adalat AI is building an end-to-end justice tech stack that automates manual and clerical pain points in courtrooms, giving judges back time to focus on what matters most: decision-making and delivering justice. Our products: AI-powered transcription in Indian languages, court dashboards, WhatsApp chatbots for litigants and advocates, AI-powered workflows for judges and registries, and the Paperless Courts platform that lets a state run its judiciary end-to-end on Adalat's infrastructure are now deployed across 11 states, covering approximately 25% of India's judiciary.

Our work has been the subject of a Stanford case study, has won the Harvard President's Innovation Challenge, MIT Solve, and the AI Innovation Challenge at the Global AI Summit, and has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal. More recently, our team has received a Mozilla Foundation fellowship, selection to the prestigious Y Combinator (YC F26) accelerator—as one of its rarest nonprofit cohorts—and recognition on the TIME100 AI list. Backed by leading technology companies and funders, and incubated at MIT and Oxford, Adalat AI is working to eliminate judicial delays and expand access to timely justice. Founded by a team with backgrounds in law, technology, and economics from Harvard, Oxford, MIT, and IIIT Hyderabad, we are scaling rapidly across India and the Global South.

Having built institutional partnerships across India's courts, we are now expanding across the Global South, beginning with Africa. We work directly with courts, governments, and justice-sector institutions to deploy locally contextualised AI while respecting data sovereignty, governance, and the realities of public-sector adoption.

Role Overview

We are looking for a lawyer who is comfortable working at the intersection of legal practice, public institutions, technology, and on-the-ground implementation.

You will help court partners adopt Adalat’s products through training, workflow discovery, stakeholder coordination, structured feedback collection, and implementation support. This is a highly practical role: you will spend time understanding how courts work, translating that context for product and engineering teams, and making sure partners have clear, trusted support through rollout.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver product training for judges, advocates, registry staff, scrutiny officers, readers, and stenographers.
Conduct product demos, internal dry runs, and question-and-answer sessions before and during partner rollouts.
Develop relationships with court stakeholders and act as a reliable day-to-day point of contact during implementation.
Support state and court-level implementation plans, including phased rollouts, onboarding, feedback loops, and follow-up support.
Build training materials, FAQs, walkthrough videos, and implementation documentation.
Adapt training formats for different audiences, levels of comfort with technology, languages, and court workflows.
Capture product localisation requirements, workflow requirements, bugs, product feedback, and operational blockers clearly and route them to the appropriate internal teams.
Help partners distinguish urgent blockers from lower-priority usability issues; support transparent prioritisation and follow-up.
Coordinate closely with product, design, engineering, data, and customer-support teams to ensure partner feedback is actionable.
Maintain clear records of training, stakeholder conversations, feature requests, adoption signals, and outstanding issues.
Contribute to reusable implementation playbooks so Adalat can improve delivery across states and court systems.
Support research, surveys, and structured feedback activities that help Adalat understand user needs and improve its products.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

Admitted Advocate of the High Court of Kenya holding an active practising certificate, with practical knowledge of Kenyan court registries and case management processes.
10+ years of relevant experience in litigation, judicial reform, legal aid, legal tech, or public-sector consulting; prior experience as a Judicial Legal Researcher, Clerk, or Research Assistant to a judge is strongly preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical products simply and credibly.
Confidence facilitating training and handling challenging questions in group settings.
Strong stakeholder-management skills and sound professional judgement.
Comfortable travelling regularly and working in court environments.
Highly organised: able to manage multiple workstreams, track follow-ups, and document learning carefully.
Curious about technology and able to learn new products quickly.
Comfortable collaborating across legal, product, design, and engineering teams.
Fluency in English and Kiswahili; additional language capability is a strong advantage.

What would make you especially strong:

Experience working directly with judges, court staff, advocates, registries, or government institutions (advantage).
Experience delivering training, change-management, or implementation programmes.
Familiarity with eCourts/CIS, court digitisation, filing, scrutiny, listing, cause lists, orders, or judicial workflow.
Experience translating user feedback into structured product requirements.
Ability to stay calm, constructive, and precise when handling critical or sceptical stakeholders.

A conversation with our Head of Partnerships to assess shared values and how you'd work within the team.
R5 — Founder Chat (30 minutes)
A conversation with one or more of our founders to assess your fit with the company — our mission, values, where we're headed, and compensation alignment.
R6 — Offer
