Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Grant Writer to lead fundraising and grant acquisition efforts, ensuring that Adalat AI has the necessary resources to scale its mission. This role will involve deep research into funding opportunities, writing compelling proposals, managing donor relations, and crafting impactful reports that demonstrate our success in transforming the judicial system.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional storyteller and strategist who can translate Adalat AI’s technical and legal impact into persuasive narratives that resonate with foundations, government agencies, and corporate donors. You will play a crucial role in securing multi-year funding, supporting high-impact research, and expanding our partnerships with leading philanthropic organizations, government funders, and justice-sector donors.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Research & Funding Strategy Development
- Conduct in-depth research on funding opportunities, including foundations, multilateral organizations, corporate donors, and government grants.
- Develop a funding roadmap that aligns with Adalat AI’s expansion plans, R&D needs, and court implementation goals.
- Stay updated on global trends in legal-tech, AI, and access to justice to align funding proposals with emerging priorities.
- Work closely with leadership to develop a long-term fundraising strategy, identifying multi-year funding opportunities.
Writing & Submitting Grant Proposals
- Develop high-quality grant proposals that effectively communicate Adalat AI’s mission, impact, and scalability.
- Write compelling concept notes, letters of intent, and full grant applications tailored to each funder’s priorities.
- Ensure that proposals include strong evidence of impact, budget justifications, and implementation plans.
- Work closely with the finance team to develop detailed grant budgets and financial projections.
Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, philanthropic organizations, and institutional funders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for existing funders, ensuring timely reporting and engagement.
- Develop customized donor engagement strategies to build long-term partnerships.
- Organize donor briefings, impact presentations, and site visits to showcase Adalat AI’s work.
Grant Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with grant agreements, reporting timelines, and funding restrictions.
- Track grant utilization and prepare detailed progress reports, including financial summaries and impact assessments.
- Collaborate with the operations and finance teams to ensure transparent and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop annual impact reports highlighting Adalat AI’s progress and achievements.
Case Studies, White Papers & Storytelling for Fundraising
- Write impact case studies demonstrating how Adalat AI’s solutions have improved judicial efficiency.
- Develop white papers, op-eds, and research briefs to position Adalat AI as a leader injustice-tech innovation.
- Work with the marketing team to craft high-impact storytelling pieces for donor engagement.
Building Internal Fundraising Infrastructure
- Set up internal grant tracking systems, ensuring all deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Develop standardized templates for proposals, budgets, and reports.
- Train internal teams on best practices for donor engagement and grant management.
- Maintain an updated grant database, tracking application status, deadlines, and award amounts

Research Expertise: Strong background in AI research with a passion for applying advanced techniques to solve real-world problems. Experience handling the annotation team is a bonus.
