Remote-first (India)
Adalat AI is a legal-tech nonprofit building secure AI for India's justice system. We're deployed in ~20% of Indian courtrooms across 9 states, and expanding across the Global South. Our technology is used daily by judges, lawyers, and court staff to make justice more accessible and efficient.
We're a team of ~40 people (engineers, ML researchers, legal associates, and operations) growing quickly while operating in one of the most consequential domains imaginable. Our work has been recognised by IndiaAI, the Government of India, and leaders at OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft. As a nonprofit, we care deeply about building long-term institutional credibility, high-quality partnerships, and measurable impact.
Role Overview
As Adalat AI scales across Indian states, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding is one of the most important levers for sustaining and expanding our work in Indian courts. Access to justice and the strengthening of public institutions are a natural fit for companies that want their CSR spend to create lasting, measurable change.
We're looking for a CSR Specialist who will build and own our corporate partnerships pipeline end to end: identifying aligned companies, pitching to CSR heads and foundations, shaping proposals that meet the requirements of the Companies Act, and managing partnerships through compliance, reporting, and renewal.
This role is ideal for someone who understands how CSR decisions are made inside Indian companies, from annual budget cycles and board approvals to due diligence and impact reporting, and who enjoys turning a first conversation into a multi-year partnership.
Key Responsibilities
CSR Pipeline & Prospecting
Identify and map companies, corporate foundations, and PSUs whose CSR priorities align with access to justice, governance, technology for public good, and education
Research CSR policies, annual reports, Schedule VII focus areas, geographies, and budget sizes to assess fit and prioritise outreach
Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline of prospective CSR partners, with a clear view of each company's annual planning and approval cycle
Track trends in Indian CSR, including regulatory updates, sector priorities, and emerging interest in AI and digital public infrastructure
Use networks, industry forums, and CSR platforms to open doors with CSR heads, foundation leaders, and decision-makers
Partner Engagement & Relationship Management
Lead outreach and pitch conversations with CSR teams, from first meeting through to signed agreement
Tailor Adalat AI's story for corporate audiences, linking our courtroom impact to each partner's CSR goals and reporting needs
Coordinate partner meetings, court and field visits, and engagement opportunities that bring partners closer to the work
Manage ongoing relationships with existing CSR partners through regular updates, reviews, and stewardship, with a focus on renewals and multi-year commitments
Maintain a structured CRM of contacts, opportunities, timelines, and partnership status
Proposals, Agreements & Compliance
Draft CSR proposals, concept notes, budgets, and partnership decks aligned with each company's format and Schedule VII requirements
Coordinate partner due diligence, working with finance and legal to share registration documents (CSR-1, 12A, 80G), policies, and financials
Support the negotiation and finalisation of MoUs and grant agreements, including milestones, deliverables, and disbursement schedules
Ensure that CSR funds are tracked and used in line with agreements, and that compliance timelines are met
Impact Reporting & Stewardship
Coordinate narrative and financial reporting to CSR partners, including utilisation certificates and progress reports
Work closely with programme, product, and data teams to gather impact metrics, case studies, and field stories
Support impact assessments and partner audits where required
Help develop corporate-facing collateral, one-pagers, and presentations that make our impact easy to understand and share internally within partner companies
Qualifications
Must-Have
3-5 years of experience in CSR partnerships, corporate fundraising, or CSR programme management, either at a nonprofit or within a corporate CSR team or foundation
Strong working knowledge of the CSR framework under the Companies Act, 2013, including Schedule VII, CSR-1 registration, and reporting requirements
A track record of securing or managing CSR partnerships, from pitch through to reporting
Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to draft clear proposals and present confidently to senior corporate stakeholders
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple partners, deadlines, and approval cycles at once
Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with lean teams
Strong attention to detail and follow-through
Someone who is proactive, resourceful, and comfortable taking ownership
Nice-to-Have
An existing network of CSR heads, corporate foundations, or PSU contacts in India
Experience with employee engagement or volunteering programmes linked to CSR partnerships
Familiarity with CSR impact assessments and partner audits
Experience working in public-interest technology, governance, civic-tech, legal-tech, or mission-driven organisations
Exposure to CRM tools, partnership trackers, or grant management systems
Not a Fit If
You prefer highly structured environments with narrowly defined responsibilities
You are uncomfortable with outbound relationship-building and pitching to corporate leaders
You are looking for a purely compliance or administrative CSR role without ownership of partnerships
You are not excited about working in mission-driven, high-accountability environments
Benefits and Perks
Adalat AI is a nonprofit. Compensation is below market rate for equivalent roles at for-profit companies. The pitch is mission, scale, and the depth of work, not cash. If you're energised by building something that matters in one of the world's most important institutional systems, we'd love to talk.
