Adalat AI is building an end-to-end justice tech stack that automates manual and clerical pain points in courtrooms, giving judges back time to focus on what matters most: decision-making and delivering justice. Our solutions - from AI-powered transcription in Indian languages to case-flow management and document navigation - are now deployed across 9 states, covering nearly 20% of India’s judiciary. Backed by leading technology companies and funders, and incubated at MIT and Oxford, Adalat AI is working to eliminate judicial delays and expand access to timely justice. Founded by a team with backgrounds in law, technology, and economics from Harvard, Oxford, MIT, and IIIT Hyderabad, we are scaling rapidly across India and the Global South.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Communications Manager who owns the communications function end-to-end — turning vision into polished, high-impact materials with the craft and precision this mission demands. You'll work closely with senior leadership, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
This isn't traditional marketing — it's high-stakes execution at the intersection of legal tech, public service, and institutional change. Your work lands with senior judges, institutional funders, policy makers, and government officials. Every newsletter, report, social post, and stakeholder deck must reflect the credibility and seriousness Adalat AI carries in the rooms it operates in.
You'll be the voice and visual standard of Adalat AI across all external-facing channels — newsletters, social media, website, blog, branding, and institutional communications. You'll also drive the design and copy for court-facing activity reports that tell the story of judicial transformation, the annual impact report, and high-stakes stakeholder materials. You set the brief, you deliver excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Brand & Content
Own and evolve Adalat AI's brand voice across all channels — maintaining the precision and credibility befitting a legal-tech company working at the intersection of AI and public service
Drive social media communications — positioning Adalat AI at the forefront of judicial tech and legal innovation in India and globally
Lead website content strategy and copy — keeping it current, compelling, and aligned with how we're growing
Manage and publish the blog — covering topics at the intersection of technology, law, and justice reform, aimed at both technical and policy-savvy audiences
Reporting & Stakeholder Communications
Produce targeted newsletters for three distinct audiences: donors tracking judicial reform, technical partners using our systems, and judges on the platform daily — each sharp, clear, and effective, each in a different register
Write and design stakeholder briefs, updates, and correspondence for government officials and institutional partners — exceptional precision and formal tone, every time
Produce presentation decks, one-pagers, and visual content for partnership, funding, and government meetings that command attention
Turn platform data into the story of judicial transformation: quarterly regional activity reports covering adoption rates, case-processing improvements, and usage patterns across courts
Lead the annual impact report end-to-end: strategy, copy, design direction, stakeholder input, and final production
Surface insights and recommendations on how we report impact and outcomes — making our data work harder
Operations & Execution
Manage external designers or agencies when specialised execution is required — brief them well, review sharply
Maintain editorial calendars, content workflows, and documentation to keep the function running smoothly
Partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to gather inputs across formats; first drafts are close to final
Qualifications
2-4 years of experience in content, communications, or marketing roles — experience in SaaS, GovTech, legal tech, or mission-driven organisations strongly preferred
Background in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field; portfolio weight matters more than degree title
Strong portfolio demonstrating copy and design quality across formats — reports, newsletters, presentations, social content, or campaigns
Strong proficiency in Canva is required; Adobe Creative Suite or Figma is a strong plus
Genuine enthusiasm for legal tech, judicial reform, and communicating complex institutional change
What You Will Achieve in a Year
Own Adalat AI's external voice — a consistent, credible presence across social, website, blog, and newsletters that reflects the weight of the mission
Make every stakeholder report — quarterly activity reports, the annual impact report, donor updates — the document people reference in the room, not just send ahead of it
Deliver materials that move decisions — partnerships, funding, government engagements — where your work is visibly in the room
Go from delivering on the strategy to defining it — a trusted partner to senior leadership on how Adalat AI shows up in the world
